Family Pictures
We got family portraits done last week and bought the expensive package, so we got the CD with the photos. Here they are!

Many thanks to my nephew Derek Kaser, who rode to the rescue of this blog when I’d waded in over my head in matters of database versions. 24 hours ago I managed to shut myself out of editing this blog. 12 hours ago I’d managed to erase all the content. By 8 hours ago my [...]
I joke, of course.? Ollie and Sue returned to West Virginia yesterday after providing wonderful help for Mary and Micah and Miriam and me for well over two weeks, and already this morning I could tell how much they had been helping us.? The good news for them is that they get to return to [...]
Things are going well at home. ?Miriam is already on a newborn’s eating-and-pooping schedule, and Mary and I are, so far, keeping up nicely.
On the work front, I’m a week behind (as is to be expected), so I don’t know how much if any I’ll be writing here over the next few days. ?Just wanted [...]
In case you haven’t gotten the word yet, Mary was admitted to the labor and delivery wing of the hospital at 7:00 last night.? We’re having us a baby.
Well, it’s been eleven days now since doctors put us on “any day now” notice, but that’s just not binding on a little girl, I suppose. ?No baby yet.
I’m also approaching the halfway point of Richard Dawkins’s book The God Delusion, and I’ve been scribbling furiously for a blog review of it. ?I know I’m [...]
I know it’s not great poetry, but I miss you, Grandma.
Because I knew when Death would stop
My eyes refused to see
Now days can pass without a thought
But with no warning, misery
Will sweep into a crowded place
And threaten to consume
My well-versed mask of competence:
I cannot weep in crowded room.
To travel would have been unwise,
I know and [...]
August is the cruelest… no, I won’t start that way.
I always dread a little bit coming back to the office after a long summer. ?Coming around the next corner, always, will be the colleague who is ready to tell me about his summer sitting on the back porch, polishing off a hundred pages an afternoon [...]
I’ll admit that this is my kind of vacation, the kind that only takes an hour and a half to return from.? We depart tomorrow morning, stopping along the way to take care of some paperwork in Dacula, and we’re spending the day at the Fern Bank natural history museum in Atlanta.? Then we’ll proceed [...]
I try never to call myself technically savvy, computer-literate, or other such things–the moment I do, somebody’s going to ask me to install, update, or fix something that’s beyond my scope.? Nonetheless, I do take some joy in those moments when I get electronic widgets to work in ways that they weren’t working before.? So [...]
Well, it’s actually just two weeks.? Mary got on a plane last night to go help with her parents Ollie and Sue, who were in a car wreck a couple weeks ago.? Micah’s going to stay in school a couple weeks longer than normal this year so that I can continue to work at the [...]
Two sophomore lit papers left.? Then 33 sophomore response papers from last Tuesday.? Then 22 freshman portfolios.? Then 33 sophomore lit papers.? Then 22 more freshman portfolios.? Then 35 sophomore final exams.? Then dissertation chapters.? Then a new job.? Then a baby.? Then next Christmas.
I do sometimes think that I’ll just schedule a good long [...]
Here’s a double-whammy Micah post for you. The first part is a brief clip from Athens Christian Church’s Easter service. The second is a gallery of Micah’s many Easter egg hunts and some more pics from Easter Sunday. Enjoy!
And thank you to all who wished me a happy birthday on Facebook, Theologica, [...]
I know full well, of course.? Adulthood swallowed half of it, and teaching ate the other half.? The first day of spring break I spent working my second job and driving Mary and Micah around (since we were down to one car until Wednesday, when I got my car back), and I spent the next [...]
I remember what I did every year in high school on February 14–out came the black T-shirt (not that I was averse to the black T-shirt during the rest of the year), and whether I had a girlfriend or not (by my best reckoning, I was unattached three out of four years of high school–I [...]
So here’s a photo album that shows the bedroom devoid of furniture and then with the new items…
and lightsabers.
Happy Birthday, Mary!
Bedroom Furniture
Look for pictures soon–for Mary’s birthday (it’s a big ol’ birthday, let me tell you), we’re getting new bedroom furniture.? She found a good deal in the Sunday circulars on a set she particularly liked, we checked all over town and the Internet to make sure there weren’t better purchases to be made, and Monday [...]
Here are the next set of pictures. ?Enjoy!
Christmas 2008 Trip Indiana Segment
And now… the much-awaited Christmas 2008 galleries! Today I’ll post West Virginia; tomorrow, Indiana.
Christmas 2008 Trip West Virginia Segment
No time to write this morning.? We’re headed off to the Interactive Neighborhood for Kids, Micah’s children’s museum here in Georgia.? Since it’s so rare for all three of us to have a day off on the same day, I talked Mary out of spending the day working and into coming with the boys today.? [...]
