How to Listen in Sunday School
I figured this would be a good post to put up here on my first Sunday away from Athens Christian Church for a while.? I hope that I can heed its advice as I visit people’s congregations.
I remember well that Dr. Norris at Emmanuel School of Religion taught us to follow the one-bullet rule: go into a Sunday school class that you’re not teaching with one bullet in your gun.? Once you’ve made one comment, you’re done for the hour.? He told us, and it’s born out in my experience, that most of the time we wouldn’t end up firing the bullet.
I’ve been in more than a few Sunday School classes that would benefit from this rule being imposed.
I have as well. But I’ve been living by it whenever I’m on the road for the last decade, and it’s served me well.
