These posts come from a speech that Fred Sanders delivered, and all of them capture my own love for things medieval.? As Sanders duly notes, there was some high-end thinking going on in the thirteenth century that, frankly, fell into disrepair until Hegel and other nineteenth- and twentieth-century Continental philosophers picked things up.? That moderns (are you reading this, Ditchkins?) think of their age as “Dark” and ours as “Enlightened” often makes me chuckle.
